Pays Nantais

Muscadet country

Situated in the far western reaches of the Loire near the mouth of the river, the Pays Nantais extends to the southeast of the city of Nantes, encompassing 32,000 hectares of gently rolling vineyards planted primarily to the Melon de Bourgogne variety. Muscadet, along with its various sub-appellations (Muscadet-Sèvre et Maine, Muscadet-Côtes de Grandlieu, etc.), is produced from 100% Melon de Bourgogne, and while it tends to be straightforward in its profile, its distinctive mineral streak and its bright acidity make for a remarkably satisfying wine—particularly when harvested manually and handled with care in the cellar.
