Umbria

An agricultural bounty

Landlocked and agriculture-rich Umbria is the fourth-smallest winegrowing region in Italy, producing less than a third of the volume than that of neighboring Tuscany. While the straightforward white wines of the Orvieto DOC account for 80% of Umbria’s production, pockets exist for deeply compelling wines—notably, the hill town of Montefalco just outside of Assisi, where the Bea family produces uncompromising, bold, minimal-intervention wines from the local Sagrantino variety (as well as Sangiovese, Trebbiano, and others) which are cornerstones of our portfolio.
