Steep slopes overlooking the Mediterranean
The astonishingly beautiful limestone slopes of Liguria produce wines which viscerally evoke the nearby Mediterranean in their salty, briny character. From little-seen indigenous varieties such as Bianchetta, Pigato, Cimixa, as well as Vermentino and Ciliegiolo, Ligurian wines offer unique cuisine compatibility and irresistible local character. As with other heavily touristed seaside zones like Cassis in Provence, few of the wines produced here make it out of their immediate surroundings.
